Obituary
Alan Jamieson
President Huddersfield Branch
It is with great sadness that we report the death of our President, Alan Jamieson on 4th March 2007 after a long, bravely fought illness.
Alan started his career in the Army and on leaving this worked in the Bakery industry. His first and most overpowering love was dogs though, and he was never happier than when training his dogs, working with dogs, or helping other people with their dogs. Dogs and most particularly GSDs were his life. He started with an interest in breed and then rapidly moved on to agility and obedience, originally training at Newton Heath Dog Club and then joining Huddersfield BAGSD 35 years ago.
Over the years Alan has been a trainer in obedience and agility, committee member and more recently Club President.
Nothing was ever too much trouble for Alan. His good humoured attitude and empathy with his ‘pupils’ has set many a belligerent dog (and owner) on the right path. He was loyal, dedicated, a true friend to many people in the club and his understanding of dogs was beyond measure. If Alan did not know what to do in any situation you could be sure that by the next week he would!
Alan will be deeply missed by the branch and we can be grateful for the many years of expert knowledge he gave us.
One thing is for sure though now all the dogs in heaven will be very well trained!
We send our deepest sympathies to Alan’s wife Anne, his son Paul and grandchildren, family and friends. |
